FAQ
What parameters can the machine control?
Manual baking allows you to control the power (0 to 3200W, 10 levels), air damper (15 levels), and drum speed (50 to 90 rpm). It also records events, first and second crack times, and temperatures.
What control methods does the machine support?
OB-1 Pro can be used for standalone baking or connected to a mobile phone/tablet APP for wireless operation (compatible with iOS and Android systems).
What is the temperature monitoring included?
Beans Temperature (BT) and Exhaust Temperature (ET). In addition, unlike conventional coffee roasters, the OB-1 Pro is equipped with an extra thermometer inside the heat-retention layer. This sensor monitors the machine’s ongoing thermal state, optimizing preheating and automatic roasting heat control to create a more stable roasting environment — the Uniform Thermal Control System (U.T.C.S.).
Machine Preheating Time
The OB-1 Pro features a built-in Unit Temperature Consistency System (U.T.C.S.), which holds the temperature steady when the charge temperature (bean input temperature) reaches -30°C, allowing the machine’s thermal state to equalize. Once stabilized, the system resumes heating until the target charge temperature is reached. As a result, the preheating time for the first roast is approximately 13 minutes.
What temperature parameters are monitored by the system?
BT (Beans Temperature) and ET (Exhaust Temperature / Environment Temperature) are monitored during the roasting process. Additionally, unlike conventional roasters, the OB-1 Pro features an extra thermometer embedded within its heat-retention layer. This sensor detects the overall thermal continuity of the machine, helping optimize heat control during preheating and automatic roasting. The result is a more stable and consistent roasting environment, enabled by the Unit Temperature Consistency System (U.T.C.S.).
How long does the machine take to preheat?
The OB-1 Pro is equipped with an internal Unit Temperature Consistency System (U.T.C.S.), which temporarily holds heating when the charge temperature reaches -30°C. This pause allows the machine’s internal heat to stabilize and equalize. Once the thermal state is consistent, the system resumes heating until the full charge temperature is reached. As a result, the preheating time before the first roast is approximately 13 minutes.
What is the duration of a single roasting session?
With adequate preheating and maximum heat output, reaching first crack for a 1 kg batch generally takes 7–9 minutes, depending on the bean variety and initial charge temperature.
What is the cooling time for coffee beans?
The machine is equipped with a powerful cooling fan module, allowing 1 kilogram of coffee beans to cool down to room temperature in approximately 3.5 minutes.
Can the machine roast continuously? If so, what is the recommended interval between batches?
Yes, continuous roasting is possible. Unlike typical machines, the OB-1 Pro automatically cools down during continuous roasting to correct the accumulated heat effect from previous batches. This ensures stable and consistent high-quality roast profiles by enabling more precise temperature control. As a result, there is an approximate 10-minute interval between roasts. The machine’s body is mostly made of metal, making it durable and able to withstand high temperatures. It can operate continuously for up to 5 hours in a single day.
What is the method of automatic roasting?
The machine is equipped with a fully automatic system for bean loading and unloading, roasting profile replication, and cooling. During the automatic roasting process, the system replicates the damper and drum rotation speed parameters based on a preset timeline. It uses the beans temperature (BT) as the control target and manages the heat through PID (Proportional–Integral–Derivative) control to ensure consistent roast profiles.
